Batman recruits his super friends to defend the Earth

Warner Bros. and DC will officially unveil their first super hero team up flick when Justice League hits theatres in November, but fans crammed into Hall H at the San Diego Comic Con were treated to a little preview this weekend.

The SDCC trailer, which runs just over 4 minutes in length expands on the general premise that features Batman (Ben Affleck) recruiting other meta-humans in order to stop an extra-terrestrial threat called Steppenwolf (CiarĂ¡n Hinds, Game of Thrones), who is revealed for the first time in this footage.

The film is directed by Zack Snyder with Joss Whedon helping out with the script and stars Affleck as Bruce Wayne aka The Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth.

Not seen in the trailer is Superman (Henry Cavill), but he is expected to return, despite the fact that he sacrificed himself fighting Doomsday in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Is that him at the end of the trailer? Could be….or is it someone else? Hmmmm.

Also rumored to be making his first appearance in the JL is the Green Lantern (no relation to the Ryan Reynolds animated suit fiasco.) Another one the announcements made by DC during their SDCC panel was a Green Lantern Corps movie. It would make sense to introduce him in Justice League as there is a reference to the Lanterns in this trailer.

Plus, Cavill has been teasing a GL appearance on his Twitter feed for moths, even going so far as to suggest his boy and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. co-star, Armie Hammer, would make a great Green Lantern.

DC also announced the Flash movie will be called Flashpoint and will tell one of the most popular stories from the Flash comics, centering on events set into motion by Barry changing a significant moment in his past, triggering a split in the timeline causing an alternate universe. This could be a great way to do some fun things with DC’s vast collection of characters.

Justice League lands in theatres on November 10, 2017. You can check out the SDCC trailer below.
