Thor and Hulk set out to stop the end of days in Asgard

Marvel Studios is already off to a hell of a start in 2017 with the releases of Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 and more recently, Spider-Man Homecoming. But if the trailer released at San Diego Comic Con 2017 is any indication, Thor: Ragnorok could be one kick ass ride.

The final act of the Thor trilogy sees the return of Chris Hemsworth as Thor as he teams up with his fellow Avenger brawling buddy Bruce Banner, aka the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and his trickster brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to stop the end of days brought on by Hela, the Goddess of Death (Cate Blanchett.) The rest of the cast includes Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin; Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie; Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster; as well as Sam Neill, Karl Urban and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.

Released over the weekend at SDCC, the trailer was just one of the highlights of Marvel’s 90 minute panel that also gave the packed crowd in Hall  H a glimpse of next year’s Avengers: Infinity War, as well as news and concept art from the upcoming Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson.

Captain Marvel will be released in between Avengers: Infinity War and the Untitled Avengers 4 and will take place in the 90s. Does that make it a period piece? The film will co-star Samuel L. Jackson as S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury — who will have both eyes here — and will feature the Kree-Skrulls War, which means some wicked sweet things are coming in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thor: Ragnorok is directed by Taika Waititi (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) and hits theatres November 3.
