Spidey actor set to take on video game franchise

Get ready to hear this kid’s name a lot. Tom Holland, known to most movie fans as the latest to don the web shooters as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, has been cast to play a teenage version of Nathan Drake in the video game adaptation of ‘Uncharted.’

The action-adventure game, which has launched 4 popular titles, follows a descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake, a treasure hunter named Nathan Drake, who searches for lost treasures and along the way battles curses and supernatural creatures.

Holland will play a younger version of Drake, based on a sequence from the third game. The movie will be a prequelesque adaptation, set before the events depicted in the games.

Seen previously in The Impossible (2012) and Ron Howard’s In the Heart of the Sea (2015), Holland made his MCU debut last year in Captain America: Civil War and will be featured in this summer’s highly anticipated Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, Real Steel) is set to direct the Uncharted, which does not yet have an official release date.
